Cosy Collection Look Book
Hello and welcome to the Cosy Collection look book.

Inspired by the cosy moments of life, like a warm cup of tea, the glow of golden hour, a crackling fire, watching rain drops race down the window or a warm hug, you’re invited to take some time to look at these artworks and reflect what they make you think of and what cosy moments you can identify in your life.

In creating this collection I delved deep into the notion of 'cosy', which means giving a feeling of comfort, warmth and relaxation. Searching for the cosy moments in my life and capturing these has brought such calmness to my life and I hope that in witnessing this collection you can experience these emotions as well, connecting with my art.

Please note the artworks will only be available for purchase at the Front Gallery and Cafe in Lyneham from the 1-14 February. After the exhibition closes, should any artworks still be available I will put them on my online shop.

I invite you to explore the story behind each artwork in the look book below.

Untamed
'Untamed' is the first artwork I completed for the Cosy Collection. After spending a lovely evening at an exhibition opening I returned home feeling utterly inspired and began work bringing this creation to life. I knew I wanted a high contrast in colours and tones with plenty of texture.
This artwork is inspired by sprigs of wattle picked on an early morning walk and placed in the corner of a colour drenched room as the sunlight illuminates the room.

Early Morning
There is something rather cosy about a foggy morning, usually bedecked in warm layers, it's the sign of a cool morning in autumn for me. That crisp autumn feeling is what inspired 'Early Morning', the sun beginning to rise on a lone tree turning golden in the field, you're not too sure what will be revealed once the fog rises.

The Cabins in Summer
Do you remember going to a school or summer camp? The warm evenings, the crisp and cool mornings. The campfires, the fun, the drama, the memories made?
Or maybe it was a family holiday at a caravan park with cabins by the water. Whichever resonates with you, this is what inspired 'The Cabins in Summer'.
I hope this artwork brings you some happy nostalgia.

Golden Delphiniums
Picture this, you're living in a beautiful old cottage or chateau in Europe, the yellow plaster walls are a little crumbly but they've got charm. You walked out to cut fresh delphiniums growing in the garden before the heat of the day makes them wilt and you've placed them in your favourite vintage jug. Now you sit with a cup of tea watching as the afternoon sunshine fills the room, you feel warm and cosy.

Mulling
The Cosy Collection would not be complete without a cup of tea, or is it mulled wine... I'll let you decide.
As you can tell with this collection so far, more and more of the paintings feature green which I think is an inherently calming and cosy colour. This artwork makes me think of curling up under my thick fluffy blanket during winter with a cup of tea in hand to warm the soul.

Under the Canopy
This artwork is based off a picture I took at the Brisbane botanic gardens on a warm summer's evening, yet it could be many places and I wonder what it makes you think about. Being in nature for me brings relaxation and comfort always, fulfilling those aspects of the cosy mantra. This was by far one of my most complex and detailed artwork in the collection, many, many hours of work have gone into this painting and the end effect, I think, makes it all the worthwhile.

Impressionist's Afternoon
On a warm summer's evening you grab a picnic blanket and escape to the hills to catch the golden hour before the setting sun. That is what inspired this artwork.
What started as a usual realistic artwork transformed into a more free expression of feeling and movement. Much like the impressionists I admire, the capture of light and movement transformed this artwork in a way that challenged me and brought me joy.

The Cosy Fire
Those that know me know that I love a good fireplace. Not just for the warmth they bring on a cold winter's night, nor the inherently cosy vibes they emulate. For me there's a lot of nostalgia of a small burning fire as some of my earliest memories with my grandparents were spent creating and talking around a fire. While this artwork has a deep personal connection for me I think there's something we can all connect with, watching the flames dance, sharing stories.

Golden Hour
This artwork speaks of warm summer nights, a gentle breeze occasionally floating through an open window as the world bathes in the sun's setting golden glow.
There's also something so peaceful about watching the world from a window, taking time to sit and observe from the safety and anonymity of inside, there's something I enjoy about that.

Dawn
Is it just me or does this artwork not just give Jane Austen vibes?! Think Elizabeth Bennett on a cool English morning, ambling through the fields with a book, content with the world. I don't exactly know how to describe it but this feels cosy to me, I wonder if you can see it too?

A Safe Embrace
I knew that this was a story I wanted to tell, the safety and peace of a mother's embrace. Hugs from mum have a way of calming my heart, she knows just what I need, even when I don't. I was really deliberate with this artwork, finding the right image, using soothing colours.
Can you see the story in this artwork?

The Bookshop
This artwork is for all the book lovers, because anyone who loves books will appreciate the cosy vibes of a bookshop! Picture this, you're walking down the street on a dark, drizzly day and you see a warm glow ahead. It's a bookshop, lovingly preserved of all character, it's teeming with every book you can think of. The counter is heritage, worn and well-loved, the faint ding of a bell sounds as you step inside. Welcome to the Bookshop.

Vintage Warmth
There is something so iconically cosy Australian as a summer afternoon at the beach. As you can tell from the colouring of this artwork, this painting is inspired by sunsets on the western coast of Australia which I would love to visit one day. You can see all the usual beach activities taking place, surfers lulling in the back, paddle boarding in the shallows up front. There are people simply enjoying walking or sitting, soaking up the calming energy of the beach, and of course there's a beach cricket game in progress.
After a long summer day, sitting on the beach with the contrast of warm sand and cool air is such a cosy experience that I feel is somewhat unique to Australia.

The Cosy Studio
This collection would not be complete without capturing the cosy space from which I created all of these artworks. My little studio has become my haven, a place dedicated to creation, with warm wood tones, fair lights galore and a candle ready to burn through the long winter nights, I don't think it gets any more cosy! Welcome into my cosy studio friend.

Droplets
I was one of those kids who would watch the water droplets race down the window, winding a unique path you could never quite guess. There's something quite peaceful about that experience, sitting in the warmth of a car or bus or home as the world is covered in gentle rainfall.
I knew I had to capture this feeling in this collection and whilst I was intimidated at first, I'm pretty proud of how this one turned out!

Afternoon Garden
The Afternoon Garden is inspired by the many warm afternoons I used to spend out in the garden as a child. To this day I still love how grounding being in nature is, particularly in the shade on a warm summer day. I may not have realised it at the time, but I'm so grateful my parents raised me spending so much time in the garden and now it's a place of comfort for me.
There is nothing cosier that reading a book in a garden in the cool of the shade on a warm summer's day.

Mornings on the Farm
As a girl born in rural Australia I have fond memories of visiting family and friends on their farms. Tho they weren't quite as lush as depicted in this artwork I think the connection with nature is consistent. Being surrounded by quiet nature, whether it's resplendent green or earthy browns, and the simple nature of farm animals, there's something calming about that.
Although this artwork wasn't specifically painted for this collection, it's a personal fave and is one that came about as I discovered my love for cottage-cosy art and I'm so happy to include it here.
